Alpha-2-adrenergicreceptor(ADRA2),alsoknownasplatelettypeadrenoceptoralpha-2A,isamemberofGprotein-coupledreceptorsuperfamily.Thisgene,whichcanidentifyaDraIRFLPoftheADRARgene,mappedto10q23-q25,isfoundinthedistalregionofmousechromosome19andabundantlyexpressedingiantcell.ADRA2actsacriticalroleinregulatingneurotransmitterreleasefromsympatheticnervesandfromadrenergicneuronsinthecentralnervoussystem.Ithas3highlyhomologoussubtypes:ADRA2A;ADRA2BandADRA2C.StudiesinmousesuggestedthatboththeADRA2AandADRA2Csubtypesarerequiredfornormalpresynapticcontroloftransmitterreleasefromsympatheticnervesintheheartandfromcentralnoradrenergicneurons.ADRA2Areceptorsinhibitedtransmitterreleaseathighstimulationfrequencies,whereastheADRA2Csubtypemodulatedneurotransmissionatlowerlevelsofnerveactivity.Thisantibodyissuitableforresearchersinterestedincellsignalingandneuroscienceresearch.
